At 3am on Friday 14 October, armed militants burst into the village of Masome in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and began violently attacking residents.
According to local sources, the militants used machetes to mutilate men and women. Twelve bodies were collected after the attack.
The attack took place in the northeastern province of Ituri, where attacks by roaming groups of rebels, as well as the terror group Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), are commonplace.
The ADF started in the 1990s as a force opposing the alleged mistreatment of Muslims by the Ugandan government. They later expanded their operation to the DRC, where they have now grown and spread in the provinces of Ituri and North-Kivu. The ADF is the most violent of the over 120 armed groups currently active in the eastern DRC.
Last week, we reported on another brutal attack attributed to the ADF .

Please Pray
Pray for God’s peace and comfort over the villagers as they grieve and come to terms with the attack.
Pray for the families of the twelve murdered, that the Lord will provide for all their physical and spiritual needs, and that they would lean on Him in their sorrow.
Pray that all those associated with the ADF terrorists will be convicted of their actions and will find truth and hope in Christ.
